My name is Meera Omar and I have been a registered Special Education Professional in Singapore with more than 10 years of pediatric experience in both public and private sectors. I am certified in areas such as the DIR/Floortime approach, Neuro-Developmental Treatment, ABA, TEACCH, Brain Gym, The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and American Sign Language. Apart from working with kids, I have also done teacher trainings, been a head teacher and planned program curriculums.
I have worked with a diverse group of children including those with autism, learning disabilities, developmental delay, dyspraxia, sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, speech and language impairment, non compliant behavior and physical challenges. I also specialize in the use of assistive technology in both the classroom and home settings. Apart from working with children, I also work closely with parents to guide them in their support of their child’s learning differences.
I have worked in both mainstream and special education settings. I strongly believe that early intervention makes a significant difference to a child with learning differences and special needs and strive to create a nurturing space for these children to develop self esteem and confidence. I also believe that family involvement is vitally important in early intervention and advocate strong parent teacher partnerships.
We lead a group of highly motivated, warm and talented shadow teachers who strive to make a difference in the lives of the children they work with.
